Tenderness as a Tool (2023)
Queercircle, London

This workshop was hosted at the LGBTQ+ arts charity QUEERCIRCLE in London, UK and led with artist Pops_Comixs.
We began by crafting pocket zines to explore strategies of resistance among ‘mad’ and queer communities. Looking at how bodies are shaped within cultural imaginaries, we then used visual archiving as a tool to resist harmful narratives. Beginning with our own experiences of shame and pride, we re-mixed text and images in playful ways to document the often unheard voices of our communities.
As zine-makers, we became caretakers for our peers, using tenderness as a tool for social action.
